Logging into Yahoo mail with Firefox gives unresponsive script warning

When you log into Yahoo mail using Firefox, you may experience the following problem:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding...

To solve this problem, we need to increase the default script execution time.

  1. Type "about:config" in your Firefox address box. Click the I'll be careful, I promise! button.
  2. In the Filter box, type "dom.max_script_run_time".
  3. When the filtered result shows up, double click the entry "dom.max_script_run_time".
  4. In the pop up windows, change the default value to 20, or 30.

Switch to Yahoo mail from hotmail easily

I have hotmail accounts, but I never use it. The huge ugly ad always takes too much space. Now, Yahoo 7 (http://au.yahoo.com/) provides a switch service. The Switch service copies emails and contacts and won't do anything with the old account. Yahoo 7 claimes there is zero risk. Currently, this service supports switching from Hotmail and Google Mail, as well as OptusNet's webmail service.

There are two advantages of this service. First it supports twos domains ( @yahoo.com and @yahoo.com.au). In other words, even your account is with @yahoo.com, you still can transfer the data.

The second one is supporting Optus webmail. I strongly suggest any users DO NOT use the email service provided the ISP. That is, DO NOT use the email whose addresses end with @optus.com.au, @bigpond.com.au or @any ISP domain. Once you want to swith to another ISP, it will be a big problem to notify all the contacts. Because, obvisouly, the ISP will cancel your email account when you are not with them anymore.

If you want to use the Yahoo 7 email with unlimited storage now, it is the time. Simple go to http://au.docs.yahoo.com/mail/trueswitch.html and follow the steps.

Fix frozen yahoo messenger emoticons

Source: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-dlTGcTsmfqjxAwxonCDDvw75?p=72

It is quite strange that the emoticons of yahoo messenger cannot display properly sometimes. One solution that may work is described as follows:
  • Open IE, go to Tools then Internet options;
  • Delete the Temporary internet files;
  • Go to Advanced tab, click Restore defaults;
  • Restart your computer.

OK. Now, probably, the emoticons start to work well.

Multi-login of yahoo messenger

It is easy to have a multi-login yahoo messenger if it is in version 8. Use Notepad to creast a new text file, input:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\yahoo\pager\Test]"Plural"=dword:00000002

Then save it as a .reg file (select All files in the drop menu). Finally, import it (just double left click on it).
