- Download the necessary software.
- proTeXt - MiKTeX-based distribution for Windows, http://www.tug.org/protext/, download the .exe version.
- Ghostscript, http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/
- TeXnicCenter, http://www.texniccenter.org/. Based on my experience, the alpha version of TeXnicCenter is stable for daily use. Alternatively, you can use TexMakerX http://texmakerx.sourceforge.net/.
- Install the software.
- Install the Ghostscript. The default setting should be fine.
- Double click the proTeXt to unzip it to a temporary folder. Navigate into the folder and install MiKTex, full installation is recommended.
- Install TeXnicCenter or TexMakerX, or both.
- Done! ;)
Now TexmakerX has been renamed to TeXstudio, the project page is http://texstudio.sourceforge.net/.
