Rename bibliography title in Latex

Sometimes we need to rename the bibliography's title in Latex, for example, we want the title to be 'References'.

In the preamble, add "\renewcommand\refname{New Title}" for article type documents and "\renewcommand\bibname{New Title}" for book and report type documents.

  11. In order to get this little trick working, I had to place the command after the preamble, and (right) before calling the bibliography.

  12. Ditto, it works for me placing the command just right before calling the bibliography.

    Thanks.

  14. Thanks a lot for the tip!

    But to make it work, I had to place it right before the bibliography commands and perform a full compilation (latex, bibtex, latex, latex).

  19. and how do you make it appear as {New Title} in the Table of Contents for a report?

  20. @Anonymous: \addcontentsline{toc}{chapter}{New Title}

    e.g. with references.bib:

    \renewcommand\bibname{New Title}
    \bibliography{references}
    \addcontentsline{toc}{chapter}{New Title}

  23. [my solution]
    lyx: 2.0.2
    doc class: report
    cite style: natbib

    on your bibliography page, put the cursor just before the 'BibTeX Generated Bibliography' text and press the 'insert TeX code' button (ctrl+l), and paste the below in to the red box:

    \renewcommand{\bibname}{References}

    when you preview, it will change the title 'Bibliography' to 'References' on that page AND in your table of contents page.

    job done.

  31. Collectible Teddy Bears are those that were manufactured in 1902. The history of the teddy bear began after a cartoon on the Washington Post showed President Theodore Roosevelt sparing the life of a bear during a hunting excursion. adorable teddy bear names
